San Diego! Oh how you hold an extremely special place in Mel and I's hearts. There is just something very unique about San Diego and every time we are in California, we make this city a priority stop. When we visited Mel's dad last August, he took us on a two-day jaunt to the San Diego area, he also hooked us up with an amazing hour-long tour of the harbor on the Spirit of San Diego and an incredible tour of the USS Midway (Article to come tomorrow!).
Just outside of the Spirit of San Diego, this dude was creating some amazing sand art on the boardwalk which runs along this portion of the harbor. Apparently, there was a sand art competition the next day.
A look into downtown San Diego from the boardwalk which runs along the harbor. Isn't this city just ridiculously cool?!
Ok, so back to the harbor cruise. Tickets for the hour-long south harbor (which we took) or for the hour-long North harbor tour cost $25 for adults and $12.50 for children ages 4-12, however children 3 and under are free, so Jake got a free ride. There is also a $3 discount for seniors and those who serve in the military.
Jake loves boats, so you can tell he was super happy for this little adventure and check out that super awesome Sublime shirt our little man is rocking. And yes, that is a Caesars Palace poker chip keychain which his Grandpa gave him. Jake is quite the connoisseur of keychains, he has all sorts, from casinos, to national parks and even one from SpaceX given to his daddy from the young gentleman who lands the SpaceX rockets at their landing zone and on their autonomous drone ship. He has garnered quite the collection.
And of course no Fun Family Adventure would be complete for us without Jake making some amazing pose in our family photo on the harbor cruise.
A look at downtown San Diego aboard the Spirit of San Diego. We took an afternoon tour and the lighting was exceptional.
Mel and I posing for a photo.
Some random guy on the boat was annoyingly feeding this seagull peanuts from the moving boat. Needless to say the seagull never left the boat's side for the entire trip.
Jake was pretty enthralled by the seagull hovering above our heads.
A better view of the seagull with Coronado and Flagship cruises Patriot Jet Boat thrill ride in the background.
Better shot of the Patriot Jet Boat. That boat goes crazy fast. Right here, its just coming out from doing a donut. And yes, those people on the jet boat were getting soaked. A 30-minute ride on the Patriot costs $28 for adults and $23 for children.
Again, that darn seagull. Maybe he just wanted his picture taken.
The harbor cruise was a lot of fun and great for kids. The ship does offer an area to keep strollers, a fully stocked bar with limited snacks and plenty of bathrooms. For more info visit FlagshipSD.com.
