Just under the spot where I proposed to Melanie sit the cliffs of Little Stony Man on Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park in Virginia.

The trail up to the cliffs is a series of switchbacks but the trail is not long and you only gain about 850 feet of elevation. The views from the top of the little stony man cliffs are some of the best in the entire park.

Make sure you don't kick any rocks over the edge, the cliffs are very popular with climbers.

For more info on this trail or any other in the park, be sure to stop in at one of several visitor centers within the park. They sell some really handy little hike books for $2, we own all of them.
