A very short drive down the road from the Steamship Authorities Ferry Terminal to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard in Hyannis, MA, sits an awesome little inlet where the ferries eventually make their way out onto the ocean.
Kalmus Beach is an awesome place to escape to before you hit the craziness of the ferry terminal. Be prepared for some great shelling, pristine calm waters on the bayside and some killer views from the beach directly on the ocean.
There are bathrooms on location and a small snack bar with plenty of lunch choices. We actually opted to picnic with some food from Whole Foods about five minutes away instead.
If your headed out to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard on the ferry and have some time to kill, Kalmus Beach is the place to go.
