Located at the easternmost edge of Nantucket rests the historic Sankaty Head Light, which was built in the Village of Siasconset in 1850 to protect ships from crashing into the shoals just offshore.
We walked to the Sankaty light a few times, wildflowers litter the roadside, shingle covered cape style homes line the waterways and the views are literally stunning.
All of us even made the trek there late one night during the rise of the blood moon. From the home we stayed at in Sconscet which happened to formerly be owned by a member of the Coffin family, (one of the legendary families that helped begin Nantucket) the trip was only a half hour walk to the light.
We loved popping Jake in the stroller every day for a walk to the light. It was definitely one of our favorite things to do while on the island.
