Back on July 20th, the Taco Dive at 1901 14th avenue (in the location formerly occupied by CounterCulture) in Vero Beach, opened its doors to the public. Melanie and I love tacos and Jake is a huge fan of Quesadillas. When we saw the incredibly unique menu: BLT Taco (Pictured above on the right), a hot dog taco (Pictured above on the left), cheesy tator tots and many more great items, we couldn't wait to try them all.
The smothered tots ($7) was where we began this tasty adventure. We all loved this appetizer and it was super easy to share. The dish is quite simple just being tots smothered with queso cheese dip and topped with jalapeños but it is packed with tons of flavor.
Melanie got the taco salad ($8.00) and a Taco Bella ($5.00). The taco was honestly better than the salad. I got The Under Dog ($4.50), a taco featuring an amazinly crisp and tasty hot dog, cabbage, tomato, cucumber, jalapeño, onion, queso fresca crumbles, spicy mustard and cheddar jack cheese. It was ridiculously good. I also got a BLT Dive Style Taco ($5.00), this bad boy was setup perfectly to delight the tastebuds. Sliced applewood bacon, a fried egg, pimento cheese, arugula and tomato, make this perhaps the best taco the Taco Dive is serving.
Jake got a cheese quesadilla ($4.95) with a side of tots and a side of sour cream ($0.75). He ate the whole thing, so we will all take that as he loved it.
The place has a cool rustic style atmosphere, which is a stark contrast to what was here before when this location was CounterCulture. Taco Dive is clean, stylish and comfortable. There are only about ten tables, sharing tables is definitely encouraged here. Lines can also be long, so plan on calling your order in or getting there early for lunch if you don't want to wait too long.
Overall, we are super glad that Taco Dive has established a new location in the downtown area of Vero Beach. We loved the food and can't wait to go back and try more of the tasty tacos on the menu.
