One thing Mel and I truly love, is a good, fresh lobster roll with some nice warm butter to drizzle over the top. Every restaurant we go to that has one on the menu, we try it out. More often than not though, we are disappointed.
The night before we made the adventure to Bite Into Maine, we were recommended the downtown Portland seafood hotspot known as Eventide. Needless to say we ordered a lobster roll. For all the hype associated with Eventide, we were sorely disappointed by the quality of the roll.
Bite Into Maine made up for it though. Without a doubt, Bite Into Maine has the best lobster rolls in Maine. Located on a ridge about 300 yards from the Portland Head Lighthouse in Fort Williams Park, sits the tiny trailer that is Bite Into Maine.
This little gem of a food trailer really only serves lobster rolls but in several different styles. We opted for a Chipotle, Maine style with light mayonnaise and fresh chives, and finally a Connecticut style with hot butter. The three Rolls each cost around $19 plus tax, which is honestly a bargain for the quality and size of the rolls. Not too mention the scenery. Fort Williams Park is seriously gorgeous.
The Chipotle roll was ok but the Maine and Connecticut style rolls were literally out of this world. If your ever in Portland, make sure Bite Into Maine is at the top of your list of places to eat. You will not be disappointed.
