We make pizza. A lot of pizza. Literally three days out of the week, we are making pizza. But, we hate ordering pizza mainly because the way our homemade pizza tastes is not even comparable to that of delivery. We much prefer to make our pizzas as a family, using simple ingredients bought at any grocer.
First things first. Any great pizza, needs an amazing crust. We prefer to use the Stonefire Authentic Flatbreads brand Artisan Thin Pizza Crust. This crust in particular, has an unmistakable taste which can not be forgotten.
The second thing you need for a great pizza at home, is an awesome sauce. L.E. Roselli's Pizza Suace is a our go to. Trust us, when we say that you will forever use this sauce once you taste it.
The third and most necessary ingredient is some fresh mozzarella. The fresher the better. In a rush though, Sargento shredded Mozzarella works just fine.
Once you've got all the necessities down, its time to focus on your toppings. We like to add raw onions to ours, its become our secret weapon to creating extra tasty pies. But anything from mushrooms to eggplant to sausage works great on home made pies.
The final step to making a glorious pie is popping it into the oven. Pre-heat the over to 450, bake for 10 minutes, or until cheese melts/crust starts to darken and viola, you are done! Awesome home made slices! Top it all off with some Mama Francesca's Parmesan, Asiago and Romano Cheese and you are set with a pizza as good as any classic Italian restaurant.
(Toppings for pizza below include Campari Tomatoes, Arugula and Walnuts.)
